The Kogi State Government has purchased 50 armoured vehicles to strengthen security operations and combat criminal activities across the state.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo announced the acquisition while inspecting the first batch of five vehicles delivered to the state. He said the vehicles are intended to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies and provide greater protection for personnel during patrols and security missions, especially in areas facing security challenges.

According to the governor, the armoured vehicles will be distributed to security agencies operating within Kogi to improve patrol activities and enable faster, more effective responses to security threats.

The state government said the initiative reflects its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents, businesses and communities throughout the state. It added that the acquisition represents a major investment in the state’s security architecture and is expected to strengthen efforts to fight crime while restoring public confidence in security operations.

The development comes amid ongoing measures by the government to address insecurity, including recent restrictions on motorcycle operations and night travel in some parts of the state.
