Leaders and stakeholders of the ruling party in Kogi East have thrown their weight behind the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu and Senator Jibrin Isah ahead of the 2027 general elections, pointing to what they described as the senator’s extensive constituency projects and grassroots-driven interventions across the district.

The endorsement was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday by the group’s representative, Ibrahim Mohammed, who said Sen. Echocho’s record in office had boosted the standing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East and positioned the party favourably for future elections in the area.

According to the stakeholders, the senator’s investments in education, agriculture and rural infrastructure have had a positive impact on residents and would serve as a key campaign asset for the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“We will mobilise massive support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen Jibrin Isah Echocho, whose developmental track record across Kogi East remains our strongest campaign tool,” the statement read.

The group listed a number of projects attributed to the senator, particularly in the education sector, including the provision of school buses, rehabilitation of educational facilities and the distribution of instructional materials to schools within the senatorial district.

They also referenced the supply of farming tools to farmers, financial assistance for vulnerable individuals and other social intervention initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

The stakeholders said the installation of boreholes and electricity transformers in several communities aligns with the objectives of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which the APC says prioritises economic revitalisation, infrastructure expansion and social development.

“Sen Echocho’s performance has made our job easier. By showcasing these tangible projects, we are confident that the people of Kogi East will stand with the APC and President Tinubu to continue the journey of national development,” the statement added.

Sen. Isah, who represents Kogi East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, is currently serving his second term in the Senate under the APC platform. The district comprises nine local government areas and is regarded as one of Kogi State’s most influential political blocs due to its voting population and strategic relevance.

President Tinubu, who took office on May 29, 2023, has consistently defended his administration’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the harmonisation of the foreign exchange market, describing them as necessary measures to stabilise the economy and attract investment.

However, the reforms have also contributed to rising living costs, prompting criticism from opposition parties, labour groups and civil society organisations, which argue that ordinary Nigerians are bearing the consequences of the policies.

Despite these concerns, APC stakeholders in Kogi East expressed confidence that the achievements of both the Tinubu administration and Sen. Echocho would help strengthen support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation and voiced optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in Kogi East during the next general election.
