The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Miller Gajere Dantawaye as the substantive Commissioner of Police for Kogi State Command and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin as the substantive Commissioner of Police for Edo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani noted that the current Commissioners of Police for both states are due for retirement. CP Chukwuka Bertrand Onuoha of Kogi State Command is set to retire on January 22, 2025, while CP Peter Umoru of Edo State Command will retire on January 25, 2025.
CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye, the new Commissioner for Kogi State, has held various positions, including AC Operations, FCT Police Command; AC Field Studies, Police Academy Wudil, Kano; Area Commander in Karewa, Adamawa State; and AC CID, Oyo State. He also served as AC Admin at the Police Special Fraud Unit, Abuja, and held leadership roles in Lagos, Yobe, Edo, and at the Force Headquarters in Abuja as CP Information Technology.
CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, the newly appointed Commissioner for Edo State, began her career in Bauchi State and has served as DPO in Plateau and Edo Commands. She held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police Administration in Kebbi State and at the Nigeria Port Authority, Lagos. Otimenyin was also an Area Commander in Eleme, Rivers State, and Mbaitoilo, Imo State. She served as Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration for Zone 13 in Dunukofia, Anambra, and Zone 5 in Benin, Edo State. Before her current appointment, she was Commissioner of Police Administration in the Force Intelligence Department, Abuja.
PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), urged the new Commissioners to be dedicated and committed to improving security in their respective states. He emphasized the need for them to quickly assume their duties and perform at their best, assuring that the Commission will monitor their progress.
The approval for these appointments has been communicated to the Inspector General of Police in a letter signed by Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.
