The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, says he accepts an Appeal Court ruling confirming Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the officially elected representative for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.

Bello, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), extended his congratulations to Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and all those who participated in the democratic process.

Speaking at the Aso Villa on Tuesday, the governor called on all residents of Kogi State to embrace the court’s decision.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal affirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan as the duly elected candidate in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held in February.

The court dismissed the appeal filed by Abubakar Ohere, deeming it lacking in merit.

Back in September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal, held in Lokoja, had invalidated Ohere’s victory as the APC winner in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election.

The court went on to officially declare Akpoti-Uduaghan as the rightful victor of the senatorial election that took place in February.

However, Ohere subsequently pursued an appeal at the higher court to address the matter, but the appellate court ultimately reaffirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan as the victor of the election.
