Kogi Guber Poll: Tight security as INEC distributes sensitive materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distributing sensitive materials across Kogi State’s 21 Local Government Areas.

Previously, the electoral authority set Saturday, November 11 as the date for the North-Central state’s governorship election. Elections will also take place concurrently in the states of Imo and Bayelsa. With the police, army, and other security services sending personnel for the key election, there are fears that violence will tarnish the event.

At the headquarters of INEC in Lokoja on Friday, there is heavy presence of policemen. Also, men of the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Police Force, sniffer dogs as well as Armoured Personnel Carrier were sighted.
