Kogi LG chairman slumps, dies hours to governorship poll

Incumbent chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council in Kogi State, Muhammad Danasabe Muhammad has passed away.

According to reports, Muhammad was pronounced dead at a hospital in the state capital of Lokoja at 4:30 in the morning.

The Council Chairman slumped at home and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

He was said to have participated actively in a number of political gatherings leading up to Saturday’s state governorship election.

A family source who spoke with Daily Trust revealed that he was rushed to Shifa Hospital, Lokoja, shortly after he collapsed in the house in the late hours of Thursday.

The family member who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “Doctors confirmed him clinically dead around 4.30 am on Friday.”

The deceased was from ward B in the cantonment area of Lokoja.

He will be buried at the Unguwan Kura Muslim cemetery after the Juma’at prayer on Friday.

Sympathisers were reportedly seen trooping into his family house on Friday morning at cantonment area of Lokoja to condole the family over his sudden demise.

He is survived by his mother, wife and children.
