Supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, have endorsed the “re-election of President Bola Tinubu” and pledged their backing for the governorship bid of the Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, “Salihu Danladi.”

Hundreds of party loyalists gathered on Sunday for a rally at the council secretariat and other key locations in Bode-Saadu, attracting stakeholders and residents to affirm their political position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the crowd, Moro LGA Executive Chairperson, “Mariam Abdulwasiu,” explained that the rally was held to demonstrate the collective will of the people. “We have gathered here today to endorse the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and also throw our support behind the governorship aspiration of the Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Saliu Yakubu Danladi. We are also agitating for the zoning of the House of Representatives ticket to Moro under the platform of APC come 2027,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the chairperson, former INEC commissioner in Kwara State, Ishola Ajibade, praised Governor “AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq” for his developmental achievements across the state. He noted improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and human capital development, and argued that a successor aligned with the governor’s vision was essential to sustain these gains.

“Moro local government APC members, having considered several factors and who should sustain Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s good legacies, and coupled with the power shift agitation of the people of Kwara North who haven’t held the Governorship seat since 1999, hereby endorse the current Speaker, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, as our preferred Governorship aspirant for the 2027 general election,” Ajibade declared.

He described Danladi as a “seasoned leader” who has presided over a productive, harmonious legislature for eight years and strengthened inter-state legislative collaboration as chairman of the Nigerian Conference of APC Speakers.

Former Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mathew Okedare, also endorsed “Tinubu’s second-term bid,” praising Chairperson Abdulwasiu’s leadership and highlighting Tinubu’s consistent allocations to the state, which facilitated salary payments and project financing.

Okedare noted that while the constitution bars a third term for the incumbent governor, stakeholders have identified Danladi as a capable successor and urged the party to address the marginalisation of Kwara North in federal representation.

Former lawmaker “Babatunde Paku” added that Kwara North is determined to produce the next governor and stressed the importance of continuity in preserving AbdulRazaq’s legacy. Council Secretary Nura Muhammed echoed the call, citing historical governance patterns and the region’s voting strength as justification for endorsing “Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi” as the next governor.

The rally concluded with participants reaffirming loyalty to the APC leadership at both state and national levels, expressing confidence that their endorsements will influence Kwara’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
