Kwara loses second High Court judge in five months

On Sunday, the Kwara State Judiciary lost another Judge, Justice Sikiru Oyinloye, to the cold grip of death.

Justice Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court died on Sunday following a brief illness, according to reports.

The Judge was an active member of the Kwara State Judiciary till his death.

Justice Oyinloye was the second judge to die in active service after Justice Titilayo Daibu who died in a hospital in Abuja on November 21, 2022, after a brief illness.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, has described as a painful and great loss the death of Justice Oyinloye.

Abdulrazaq described the late Justice Oyinloye as an upright jurist in the state judiciary.

“We join the Kwara State Judiciary and the Nigerian Bar (Association) to mourn the unfortunate death of Hon. Justice Oyinloye, a very upright and brilliant judge.

“We are consoled by the fact that he left a legacy of uprightness, hard work, and brilliance for which he was known within and outside of the court system,” the Governor said in a statement on Sunday night, hours after the development.

“Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, the Kwara State judiciary, the good people of Isin Local Government, and everyone who mourns the late judge. We pray Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort the family that survived him.”

The judge was until his death in the active service of the Kwara State Judiciary, the statement further said.
