Rashidat Shittu, a 400-level student at Kwara State University in Malete, Moro Local Government Area, allegedly committed suicide due of her academic performance.

According to her colleagues, the deceased committed suicide by consuming insecticide prior to her upcoming tests.

Shittu was reportedly confirmed dead upon arriving at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where she was transported for treatment.

It was reliably reported that she was first transported to the school clinic before being transferred to the teaching hospital to save her life.

Also, a staff member who was part of the medical team that attended to her at UITH but did not want her name in print said that the student was brought in dead.

“Her colleagues said she was having issues with her academic status in school. She later informed her colleagues when she started feeling the pain that she had ingested insecticide,” she said.

A resident who witnessed her Janazah at the Muslim cemetery, Osere, Ilorin, said that the deceased was buried at the facility by family members and employees of the students affairs unit of KWASU.
