The Lagos State House of Assembly has resumed plenary nearly a month after the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker over allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office.

The former Speaker was notably absent during the session, which had 36 lawmakers in attendance.

During the plenary, Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency I, praised the Federal Government’s economic policies, highlighting the reduction of insecurity in Lagos to a minimal level.

Tobun also proposed a motion for the House to send a letter of commendation to the presidency for its impactful initiatives.

Gbolahan Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa Constituency II, joined other lawmakers in listing various Federal Government initiatives.

Speaker of the House, Mojisola Meranda, also commended President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence in his leadership.

She highlighted key achievements, including loan access for small-scale businesses, growth in stock market capitalization, and significant investments in security to ensure Nigerians’ safety.

Meranda also acknowledged First Lady Remi Tinubu’s commitment to national development.

Meanwhile, the leadership crisis in the Assembly appears to have been resolved, as no discussions regarding the former Speaker’s impeachment were raised during the session.
