Lagos Blue Line Rail is set to begin operations September 4

The Lagos State Government announced on Wednesday that the Blue Line Rail will begin commercial service on Monday, September 4, 2023.

The Blue Line Rail will move from Marina to Mile 2.

Speaking at the Blue Rail Line Terminal in Marina, the Managing Director of the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, said on Tuesday that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to be the first passenger on the Blue Line Rail when it starts commercial operations on Monday. He will board the train at the Marina station at exactly 9 a.m.

Mrs Akinajo also said that from Tuesday, September 5, the Blue Line Rail will operate in a partial capacity, with passenger services running from 6:30  a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The initial operations of the Blue Line Rail according to Akinajo, will consist of 12 trips per day, which will be increased to 76 trips per day after two weeks.
