The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary night-time traffic diversion on the Fadeyi–Donmanlong and Donmanlong–Ojuelegba routes to enable the installation of truck-restriction barriers.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the diversion will run from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
He explained that the measure is part of the state’s broader traffic management and road safety efforts aimed at minimising accidents and safeguarding lives along the busy corridor.
He explained that the affected bridge sections would be temporarily closed during the installation, noting that the work was deliberately scheduled overnight to limit inconvenience to motorists and business operators.
During the period, motorists approaching from Fadeyi Donmanlong Bridge or Ayilara en route to Ojuelegba are advised to divert through the service lane via Fadeyi, Jibowu, Empire and Donmanlong, connecting Barracks Road to their respective destinations.
The commissioner appealed to road users to cooperate with traffic management personnel and remain patient, stressing that the truck barriers are intended to check reckless movements by heavy-duty vehicles, which have previously led to serious crashes in the area.
He also warned that the state would not tolerate the destruction or tampering with traffic infrastructure, adding that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted.
Osiyemi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing road safety across Lagos and urged motorists to observe traffic rules and safeguard public facilities installed for the collective good.
