Lagos govt to divert traffic in Ikeja for Asphalt-Laying on Rail level crossing

Traffic on the Public Works Road in Ikeja will be diverted as of Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. until Friday morning at 6 a.m., according to the Lagos State Government.

Officials from the Ministry of Transportation stated that asphalting the rail track was necessary in order to improve traffic flow.

Drivers coming from GRA, Ikeja should use the Oba Akinjobi Way to link the Airport Under Bridge to Agege Motor Road, while those coming from Oshodi, Ikeja, should use the Airport Bridge or the Adegbola Level Crossing to reach their final destinations, according to the diversion plan.

Traffic enforcement personnel on the ground, as well as road signals, are urging road users to follow traffic rules in order to minimise inconveniences during rehabilitation works.

“Lagos State Government is hereby appealing to residents of the State, especially motorists that ply the mentioned corridor to make use of the alternatives routes provided to ease traffic flow, as the palliative works is aimed at achieving a seamless Multi-modal Transport System that is being envisaged for a greater Lagos,” the statement added.
