Lagos’ greatness will increase, Sanwo-Olu promises Lagosians
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has promised the people that if he is elected again in 2023, the state’s greatness will increase.
In a press conference organized to announce the official launch of the governor’s re-election campaign in 2023, the governor, who was represented by the state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, made this pledge on Wednesday in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said, “We have come to the incontrovertible conclusion that the fitting theme of the 2023 re-election campaign for Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat shall be, ‘A Greater Lagos Rising!’ It is a thematic continuum of what we promised in 2019.
“We promised our people A Greater Lagos. What do we see around us? Abundant evidence of a new city rising from the womb of time. We do not make a false claim of having reached the zenith of our journey.
“Our contextual usage of the word is as an adjective that suggests an upward swing, an increase, and an upward movement. These are the signs Lagosians can see all around the state.
“All of our campaign assets capture the place of the audacity of the spirit of Lagos in the rising of the city. The campaign assets are not some forms of self-adulation but fitting credit to the contributions of Lagosians, especially the youth, to the height Lagos has attained today.”
In order to highlight the accomplishments of the Sanwo-Olu administration, the party will distribute campaign materials to every nook and cranny of the state, according to Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress governorship campaign council.
Sam Egube, the state’s commissioner for economic planning and budget, cited the construction of two rail lines, a deep harbor, and international-standard bus terminals as signs that “greater Lagos” had begun to grow.
In addition, supporters of APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, organized a rally in Lagos State’s Iba Local Council Development Area on Wednesday.
Oba Suleiman Adeshina, the Oniba of Iba land, organized the rally on Wednesday. Party supporters participated by walking from the Trade Fair underpass to the Iyana-Iba axis along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Speaking at the occasion, Cornelius Ojelabi, the state APC chairman, urged supporters to vote for Tinubu in the 2023 elections, saying that as a previous governor of the state, he had proven his leadership ability.
Traditional leaders including the Onigando of Igando, Oba Lasisi Gbadamosi, the Alakesan of Akesan land, Oba Nojeemdeen Oduala 1, the Elegbeda of Egbeda, Oba Hameed Laka, Onijanikin of ijanikin, Oba Momodu Ashafa and the Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages, Musiliu Akinsanya (also known as MC Oluomo), were also present at the rally.
