A property owner in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos has been arrested for unlawfully turning his residential building into an abattoir.

The arrest took place at No. 12 Alfred Williams Street, where authorities uncovered unsanitary slaughtering activities being carried out inside the home, posing significant health and environmental hazards.

Prompted by a tip-off from a concerned resident, officials from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) raided the premises and immediately shut down the operation.

According to the agency, the house owner violated the state’s environmental sanitation laws and now faces appropriate sanctions in line with established regulations.
