The Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will use the occasion of the 8th Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LAPRIGA) to celebrate communication practitioners and stakeholders who use their expertise to create campaigns that exemplify creativity and generate genuine, game-changing impacts on society.
Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday to brief the press on what is at stake in this year’s award, the Lagos NIPR Chairman, Mrs. Comfort Nwankwo, noted that the theme of this year’s award, “The Game Changer,” will celebrate communication practitioners and stakeholders who use their expertise to craft campaigns that exemplify creativity and drive genuine, society-transforming change.
Mrs. Nwankwo revealed that this emphasis on positive change prompted the Chapter to introduce a new award category focused on the environment and sustainability. This addition reflects the Chapter’s commitment to the global call for reducing practices that harm the planet.
“Every year, LAPRIGA continues to raise the bar in our ongoing effort to elevate the industry, with the competition for these awards growing significantly, and stakeholders showing more interest than ever before,” she said.
Highlighting the significance of the 2023 edition, Mrs. Nwankwo mentioned that LAPRIGA this year will extend beyond the realm of communication practice. The event will honor an outstanding individual who lives with autism and developmental disorders and has a remarkable track record of corporate achievement, aligning with the event’s theme of “The Game Changer.” This collaboration is in partnership with the Patrick Speech and Languages Centre.
LAPRIGA features a diverse range of categories, including accolades such as Best in Technology Public Relations, Best in Public Relations Education, Best in Hospitality PR, Best in Political Communication, Best in Entertainment PR, and Best Use of Research & Measurement.
Furthermore, the event includes additional award categories that recognize excellence in Public Relations Practitioner of the Year, Corporate Communication Professional of the Year, Most Influential PR Professional, and Outstanding Public Affairs Practitioner of the Year.
The awards also encompass other notable categories, such as the Best Brand in Storytelling, the Best Innovation in Public Relations, Digital and Social Media Agency of the Year, Rising Public Relations Practitioner of the Year, Best in Crisis and Risk Communication, and Excellence in Internal Communication & Employee Engagement. Excellence will be celebrated in the fields of Community Relations, Political Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Supporter of PR.
