Lagos set to roll out over 1000 housing units

Lagos State plans to roll out over 1,000 housing units, it was learnt.

Commissioner for Housing Moruf Akinderu-Fatai said this in a chat with reporters at Alausa.

He said the over 1,000 units comprises schemes from Odo-Onasa, Agbowa, Gbagada and Egan.

The homes are one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom and terrace.

He said the multi-type units was meant to attend to the housing needs of various categories of the residents.

The ministry, Akinderu-Fatai said, is working on more than four schemes but those mentioned are almost completed.

He said Agbowa scheme will be a resettlement for victims of natural disaster.

The commissioner explained the delay in completing Gbagada scheme.

Akinderu-Fatai said Egan scheme was initially slated for 600 units but it was increased to 800 and divided into three phases.

The first phase of 270 units, he said, is almost ready.

According to him, the ministry will partner the private sector to bridge the housing deficit.

Lagos state government, he said, will continue to invest in the built sector to make live meaningful for Lagosians.
