The Lagos State Examinations Board has postponed this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) earlier fixed for Tuesday to June 8.
A statement by the Board Director, Supo Gbadegesin, said the exam will now hold from June 8 to 15 in the various schools.
According to Gbadegesin, it was pertinent to shift the examination date to accommodate schools yet to upload the data of their candidates into the board’s database.
He noted that most of the public Junior Secondary Schools have received their Optical Marks Readers (OMR) sheet while most approved private schools are yet to upload the bio-data of their candidates which caused a delay in the printing of their OMR sheets.
The director noted that the postponement will also enable the board address some unforeseen logistics problems that arose towards the beginning of the examination.
The board, therefore, solicited for the understanding of all stakeholders and assured all concerned schools that the new dates remain sacrosanct.
