Lagos Task Force raids Bars arrests 124 suspects

The Lagos State Taskforce has stormed many infamous blackspots known for drug selling, hooliganism, miscreants, and street dealing in an effort to cleanse the city’s streets of narcotics and other psychotropic substances.

The Night Raid Operation was carried out by African Shrine in the Agidigbi area of Ikeja around Aminkanle Market and NerdC Street, which had allegedly been converted into a trading pavilion for hard drug markets, restaurants, and a beer parlour on the roadside, causing serious human and vehicular traffic and environmental nuisance.

The Agency’s Chairman, Adetayo Akerele, stated that the raids, which would be ongoing, are being conducted in the interest of the public, who have long sought answers to the problem, which also supports criminal activity in the region.

In a statement, he stated, “The activities of these suspected criminals at Aminkanle area of Agbado, Jobi fele Road by African.” Shrine and NerdC Street, particularly at night, are dangerous to humans on all levels.

“They sell narcotics indiscriminately there, which is harmful to society, and they also contribute significantly to traffic congestion on nearby roads at night, when those who have worked all day must travel for hours to go home. It is unjust to the residents of this area, and we will ensure that it is fully eradicated.”

Akerele repeated the Lagos State Government’s position, as well as that of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fayoade Adegoke, who assured that all hands must be on deck to ensure that all renowned black areas known for high-level criminality in the state be eradicated.

He said 124 individuals were apprehended, and that those with legitimate business were allowed to leave, while others will face charges in court.
