Lagos to promote 4,000 civil servants

The Lagos State Civil Service Commission has announced that approximately 4,000 civil servants from various grade levels and positions in the state will be promoted to the next grade level this year.

The commission emphasized that employees eligible for promotion must have fulfilled the necessary conditions to qualify for the promotion.

Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, shared this information on Wednesday during the Year 2023 Promotion Exercise Revised Structure Training Programme.

The training session took place at Alausa, Ikeja and was specifically designed for civil servants eligible for promotion between grade levels 6 and 10.

Fabamwo stated that the training is an essential requirement for the promotion process, aiming to equip and prepare the eligible officers for their upcoming responsibilities in the higher grade level.

“We want to look at cross-cutting issues across all cadres and disciplines. We want our officers to have global knowledge about issues that will affect their performance on their jobs in addition to being very knowledgeable about their various professions,” Fabamwo said.

Additionally, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo mentioned that the annual promotion exercise is being enhanced with various innovations.

These measures are being implemented to guarantee that officers who receive promotions possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and competence to effectively fulfill their job responsibilities as outlined in their job descriptions.

Fabamwo urged the individuals who are due for promotion to remain committed and devoted to their duties.

She emphasized the importance of reciprocating the state government’s goodwill by demonstrating dedication and justifying the increased benefits and emoluments associated with their anticipated higher grade levels.
