The Lagos State Security Trust Fund says it has completed arrangements to rebuild the last set of police stations damaged in the 2020 #EndSARS protests.
This was disclosed on Monday in an X post by Olusegun Dada, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Social Media.
According to report, the Fund’s Executive Secretary, Ayodeji Ogunsan, revealed the update during a weekend briefing with journalists at the LSSTF headquarters in Alausa.
He said, “The Fund has got a partner in the rebuilding. The police stations yet to be rebuilt after the destruction have been inspected and work would soon kick off on them.”
Ogunsan, who assumed office as executive secretary in October, pledged to strengthen accountability, expand the Fund’s network of supporters, and ensure that contributions translate into improved security on the streets “where safety matters most.”
“Thanks to these partnerships, the Fund has over the years invested in critical assets such as patrol vehicles, communication equipment, bulletproof vests, marine assets, training for personnel, and other vital tools that have helped law enforcement safeguard our communities,” he said.
He thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as a call to service.
Ogunsan stressed the need to embrace innovation, strengthen collaboration, and ensure swift, modern and people-centred responses to emerging security challenges.
The #EndSARS movement began as peaceful demonstrations against the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad over alleged brutality.
It later escalated into violent clashes across Lagos, resulting in the destruction of police stations, courts and other public buildings.
The rebuilding effort is expected to address critical security gaps left in the aftermath of the 2020 unrest.
