The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency has revealed that all public parks it oversees across the state will be temporarily shut to the public to permit routine maintenance and upgrade activities.
In a statement dated January 9 and circulated on its official handles in the early hours of Saturday, LASPARK explained that the parks will remain closed from January 12 to January 31, 2026.
The agency said the move was prompted by the heavy use of the facilities during the just-concluded festive period.
It listed some of the major recreational centres affected by the closure, including “Ndubisi Kanu Park, Alausa JJT Park, Dr. Finnih Abayomi Park, Oregun, and all other LASPARK-managed parks across Lagos State.”
According to LASPARK, “the temporary shutdown is necessary to carry out essential landscaping, facility repairs, and general upgrades to ensure the parks remain safe, clean and enjoyable for residents and visitors.”
The agency further assured Lagos residents that the exercise is in line with its broader responsibilities, noting that the maintenance programme “is part of its commitment to providing well-maintained green spaces that promote relaxation, wellness and environmental sustainability.”
LASPARK added that the parks will be reopened to the public once the maintenance work is completed.
