Lagos tops Nigeria’s voter register with 7.49m ahead of 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that Lagos, Kano and Kaduna have the highest numbers of registered voters ahead of the 2027 general election.

INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan made this known on Tuesday in Abuja, revealing that the country’s national register of voters has reached 110 million.

According to Amupitan, the figure reflects the three phases of the commission’s voter registration exercise.

“The national register of voters now stands at 110 million, making Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa,” Amupitan said.

Lagos tops the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory with 7,488,633 registered voters, while Kano follows with 6,570,276 and Kaduna with 4,662,640.

Katsina ranks fourth with 3,876,051 voters, followed by Rivers with 3,736,434.

Oyo has 3,588,111 registered voters, while Delta records 3,525,988.

Benue follows with 3,057,225 voters, while Ogun has 3,037,981.

Bauchi rounds off the top 10 with 3,012,547 registered voters.
