The Lagos State Government has warned Sarah Martins to stop cooking and distributing food on the streets in the state.
The caution was issued by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a letter addressed to the actress and shared on his X handle, @tokunbo_wahab, on Saturday.
Wahab explained that the activity breaches the state’s environmental and public order regulations.
In the letter, the commissioner recognised the charitable intention behind Martins’ effort to provide meals for vulnerable people.
However, he stressed that carrying out such activities on public roads, walkways, or road medians in Lagos is not allowed under existing environmental and public order laws.
According to him, cooking or selling food on public infrastructure poses serious safety, sanitation and traffic risks.
He said, “The actress had previously been cautioned over a similar activity in 2025, when authorities exercised understanding, due to the philanthropic nature of the initiative.
“Martins should desist from conducting street cooking or similar activities in public spaces, to avoid possible apprehension or prosecution.”
Wahab also urged the actress to channel her charity through approved venues and proper platforms where assistance to vulnerable residents can continue without breaching regulations or causing environmental disturbance.
He reiterated that all residents must obey the law, emphasising that Lagos, like other properly regulated cities, depends on strict compliance with environmental and public order rules.
