The Lagos State Government has taken action to close down eight nightclubs and event centers located in the Ikeja and Victoria Island areas of the state.

The Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, announced in a statement on Sunday that these establishments were sealed to safeguard public safety.

He stressed that the commission is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and properties, and aims to achieve zero accidents in workplaces and public facilities.

Mojola added that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration will not tolerate any violation of safety laws, and will continually monitor facilities to ensure compliance with laid down safety laws.

Reports indicate that, during a meeting held in Alausa approximately two months ago, Mojola issued a warning to nightclub operators and event center owners. He cautioned them that establishments permitting the use of drugs and firearms on their premises would face closure.

“Some of the facilities that were in contravention include Hot Box Night Club, Shades Night Club, Buzzbar, CCX Lounge, and several event centers,” the statement added.

Mojola urged all recreational and event centers that have not yet registered with the safety commission to visit www.lasgsafetyreg.com to register.
