President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge in Lagos this week.
Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Media and Publicity, shared the news in a X post on Monday alongside a video.
He wrote, “The Ojota-Opebi link bridge is ready! Yes, it will be flagged off this week by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This is a transformational and strategic project delivered by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. It is a promise made and well delivered!”
The Lagos State Government also highlighted the bridge as a major infrastructure milestone designed to enhance connectivity and ease traffic across the city.
“The Opebi–Mende Link Bridge demonstrates how strategic infrastructure can improve movement and link communities in Lagos. By connecting Opebi in Ikeja to Mende in Maryland, it offers a new route that helps reduce congestion around Allen, Mobolaji Bank Anthony, and Ikorodu Road,” the government said.
According to LASG, the bridge will shorten travel times, lower commuting stress, and enhance daily mobility for residents. The project also reflects collaboration between key ministries, particularly Transportation and Works, to deliver impactful developments across the state.
The bridge was reported to be nearing completion, with the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stating in October 2025 that it would be inaugurated before the end of the year.
The Opebi–Mende Link Bridge is expected to serve as an alternative route for motorists, particularly around Ikeja and Maryland, easing traffic in some of Lagos’ busiest corridors.
