LASTMA vows to prosecute skit, filmmakers over unauthorized use of uniform, kits

The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has warned that henceforth, any skit or filmmakers caught using the agency’s uniform or its affiliated colour, kits and accoutrements without any authorisation from the government would be prosecuted.

The General Manager of the Agency Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, stated this on Thursday, after watching two actors with fake LASTMA uniform in a viral video on social media where one of them was being revived through a diabolical means after impounding a white ‘Sienna’ Space bus on the road.

Bakare-Oki frowned at the demeaning manner in which movie and skit makers portray LASTMA institution in their movies and skits, using the agency’s uniform without recourse to the Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 which criminalize such unauthorized use.

According to LASTMA boss; “Film or skit makers who portray as LASTMA officer without applying for, and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals, to desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the Law.”

He maintained that such sanity in movies production, regulation of possession and usage of LASTMA uniform will surely curb proliferation of the agency’s kits, uniforms and accoutrements within our society.

“We implore National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affiliated bodies to warn their members as anyone caught using LASTMA Uniform without an approved permit would be prosecuted in accordance with ‘Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015,” Oki stated.
