The Lagos State Waste Management Authority has issued a manhunt for a motorist with the licence plate FST 670 YF, who allegedly tossed trash from her car window onto the road.
The incident occurred at Adeniyi Jones crossroads inwards Aromire, in the Ikeja axis of Lagos State, according to the agency in a statement via X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.
The statement stated that efforts to force the woman to pick up the trash were futile since she drove away.
The statement partly reads, “A woman driving a yellow car, with number plate FST 670 YF, was sighted this morning at Adeniyi Jones junction inwards Aromire, dropping waste from her car. All efforts to make her pick up the waste proved abortive, as she drove off.”
However, the agency noted that it had alerted its sister agency, the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency to flag her down if seen anywhere in the metropolis.
It added that if found, the woman would be arrested and prosecuted according to the environmental laws of Lagos state.
“All LASTMA officials are hereby notified to flag her car down anywhere she is seen. She will be arrested and prosecuted according to the environmental laws of the state,” the statement added.
Speaking further, the agency noted that efforts to maintain a tidy environment will only be successful if residents of the state join hands with the government.
“We cannot consolidate on the efforts to make the environment cleaner and better when a few individuals are bent on derailing the government’s efforts,” the statement concluded.
