Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has taken a remarkable step into the world of sports by unveiling its very own football club, Dove FC, as part of its ongoing evangelism campaign.

This move comes as a delightful surprise, not only to the church’s members but also to sports enthusiasts, as it underlines the church’s dedication not only to matters of faith but also to community involvement and engagement.

The introduction of Dove FC demonstrates RCCG’s progressive outlook and its capacity to adapt to the ever-evolving times. Beyond fostering unity among its congregation, the club aspires to engage with the broader community through the unifying power of sports, irrespective of backgrounds or beliefs.Prince Dapo Ajibade, the chairman of Dove FC, emphasised the church’s ambition to break new ground by establishing the team. He stated, “By the special grace of God and with the support of the GO, Dove FC will expand to become the biggest brand in the world.” Ajibade further highlighted that the players, carefully selected from the six regions of the country, fall within the age group of 16-21, a move designed to prepare them for potential professional careers.

It’s worth noting that RCCG is not the only church that has ventured into the world of sports. Several other churches, including the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Christ Embassy Church, Living Faith Church Worldwide, and Deeper Life Bible Church, have established their own football clubs. These clubs serve as more than just sporting entities; they act as platforms to connect with communities and nurture young talents. In essence, these initiatives reflect the churches’ dedication to holistic well-being and community development, with sports serving as a conduit to propagate positive values and foster unity among their members.

The launch of Dove FC marks an exciting chapter in the intersection of faith, sports, and community engagement as the Redeemed Christian Church of God broadens its horizons and seeks to make a meaningful impact within and beyond its congregation.
