Malami, Tallen attend FEC meeting following withdrawal of political ambitions

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and Pauline Tallen, the Minister of Women Affairs, are attending the Federal Executive Council meeting just days after abandoning their political ambitions.

Malami was running for governor of Kebbi State, while Tallen was running for a Senate seat in Plateau.

Before the meeting, which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Olawole Adeniji Ige, the former Minister of Communications under Gen. Ibrahim Babangida’s regime, who died at the age of 83.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, was physically present, as were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, the Federation’s Head of Service, Folasade Yemi-Esan, the President’s Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, and the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Munguno (rtd).

Other Ministers in attendance include the Ministers of Information and Culture. Lai Mohammed, Abubakar Aliyu, Mohammed Bello, Federal Capital Territory; Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami; Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri, and Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba.

In a brief ceremony held at the Council chamber on Friday, May 13, the President held a valedictory service for the ten outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council seeking elective offices.
