A Facebook user identified as Onoh Chukwuma on Tuesday allegedly ended his life by consuming insecticide, purportedly in response to losing N2.5 million in a betting scenario.

Onoh had shared a message on his Facebook wall, stating that it was his final day on earth and that he was about to meet his maker.

Unbeknownst to those who read the post, he had already ingested the insecticide before making the announcement.

In his post, he thanked some individuals, saying, “Today is my last day on earth! I’m going to meet my maker. Thank you Chima Anyaso, Ikukuoma Abia, Kelvin Jombo Onumah, Ekwueme Ohafia, and my friends. My spirit is with you all.”

Upon discovering his distress, friends hurried Onoh to Madonna Hospital in Umuahia.

Despite the doctors’ attempts to revive him, he did not survive.

Reports indicated that Onoh had purportedly suffered a loss of N2.5 million in betting and could not endure the shame and pressure from those he had borrowed money.

A friend, sharing the news of his passing, expressed deep sorrow, recounting the unsuccessful efforts by medical professionals to revive him.

Another Facebook user questioned the deceased’s choice, stating that Onoh had N1 million and borrowed N1.5 million to engage in a failed bet, ultimately leading to his tragic end due to shame from debtors.

A Facebook user, Ibeako Esther Chisom, wrote, “Onoh Chukwuma Richard, I am heartbroken. I watched the doctors and nurses giving you pressure to see if you can come back but all proved abortive and your pause dropped as the doctor confirmed you dead right in front of me and other of your friends.
“Onoh Chukwuma Richard, you really cut down the plans God has for you by taking your life by yourself. Sleep on. I am heartbroken.”
Another user, Obika James Abuchi, wrote, “U had 1m and borrowed 1.5m to play bet, it failed, cuz of the shame from debtors you took your life? Onoh who taught you this?
Friends have since taken to his Facebook page to send condolences.
