The police on Wednesday brought charges against Badamasi Saidu, a 30-year-old man, in a magistrate’s court in New Karu, Nasarawa State, for allegedly stealing two tyres from one of his customers.

The accused, who is engaged in car wheel balancing and resides on Calvary Road, Mararaba, faced charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating, and theft, all of which he denied.

The prosecutor, Mr. Shehu Ndam, informed the court that the defendant was apprehended on February 14, following a report filed by the complainant, Sylvia Ugochi.

“The complainant alleged that she entrusted some tyres to the defendant to sell, but that he stole two tyres, valued at N116,000.

“The complainant also alleged that goods worth N3 million had been stolen from her shop,” Ndam told the court.

He stated that the crime violated provisions of sections 312, 322, and 288 of the Penal Code.

Judge Godiya Bawa granted the defendant bail in the amount of N500,000, along with one surety who must provide the same sum. The case was adjourned until March 8 for further proceedings.
