In the Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State on Sunday, a few former members of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party switched allegiances to the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

The NNPP’s governorship candidate for the state, Khamisu Mailantarki, welcomed the defectors and thanked them for finding safety within the party, along with other party leaders.

Assuring them that they would be included in all of his political endeavors, Mailantarki considered their entry into the party at this time to be a huge success.

He claimed that both the PDP and the APC had the opportunity to run the state in the past, but that neither had lived up to the aspirations of the people.

As he urged the recent defectors to mobilize a sizable number of people in their areas, Mailantarki revealed that the NNPP will offer a better option in the election the next year.

Mailantarki said, “Glory be to God for the successes being recorded by the NNPP every day. This is as a result of the good manifestos of the party. That is why more people are trooping to join. Together, we can do it and have a new Gombe State come 2023.”

Abigail Albashi, the party’s nominee for the Gombe South senate seat, Hamma Tanimu, the deputy nominee for governor, and Maikano Abdullahi, the state party chairman, among others, were among the party chieftains who attended the event, according to our correspondent.
