Mining Entrepreneurship Stakeholders have urged the Federal Government to expedite the payment of compensation for the acquisition of a business premises in Karshi, Abuja.

Aminu Sani Inuwa, Chairman of the Mining Stakeholders, made this appeal on Monday, revealing that the land in question is a business premise occupied by a quarry company but was taken over by the Federal Government for the construction of an ultra-modern Correctional Service facility.

He claims that the quarry, which sits on 0.8 square kilometres of land, is one of the best in terms of modern technological and computerised sophistication.

Inuwa stated that the quarry has the capacity to produce 2,500 tonnes of granite, boulders, and dust.

He said the Federal Government took over the property after a month of quarry operations.

He said, “We appeal for the Federal Government’s quick action on the demand for compensation over the takeover of our land and business premises for the ongoing construction of a Correctional facility at Karshi, a border community between the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State.

“This particular land and business premises is actually a quarry company operated by Mini Corporation Ltd., for which some of our members have stakes, many others run businesses of supplies and transportation.”
