Minister orders CDS to fish out killers of Sokoto District Head

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has condemned the murder of Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, calling it a heinous, senseless, and unacceptable act.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, the minister expressed his outrage over the district head’s death and instructed the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to pursue those responsible for the killing.

The District Head, along with his son and six others, was kidnapped in July while traveling from Sokoto to Sabon Birni near the Niger border. A team sent to deliver the ransom demanded by the bandits discovered Bawa’s lifeless body.

Before his death, a video of the 74-year-old monarch pleading for his release from his captors went viral last Saturday.

The statement also emphasizes that security is a top priority for President Bola Tinubu, who has been providing full support to the military.

The minister assured the public that the Armed Forces will leave no stone unturned in tracking down the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bringing them to justice.
