The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, made an unannounced visit to King’s College, TBS, Lagos, on Thursday morning.
Arriving at the main campus at precisely 7:30 a.m., he inspected classrooms and other facilities, expressing concern over the untidy environment and the ongoing power outage at the school.
The Vice Principal, Shittu Y. S., informed Alausa that the school had been without electricity for the past eight months saying, “The light has been away for the past eight months. The generator worked until it collapsed before the end of the term in December.”
He further stated that the school had implemented temporary measures to address the power outage, including acquiring generators for classrooms and the dining hall, as well as installing an inverter in the hostel.
However, Shittu pointed out that the annex campus for Junior Secondary School students in Victoria Island had a consistent power supply.
