Mob beat two Policemen to Death in Edo

Two police officers on escort duty were killed and two others injured in a mob attack in Ikpeshi, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State.

The incident occurred after a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the escort duty policemen in the convoy of former Edo House of Assembly member Emmanuel Agbaje hit a motorcycle.

The accident is claimed to have killed the rider, a lady, and her child.

Youth from the Ikpeshi village were claimed to have tracked down the police officers and battered them to death.

Two more escort duty police officers were rescued by Edo State Vigilante Network operators in the region and are now being treated at an undisclosed facility in Edo State.

Chidi Nwabuzor, spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, verified the event and stated that the four police officers were from Police Mobile Force (PMF) 19, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

He also stated that the investigation into the incident was still ongoing, and that the command would provide further information to the public later.
