Mr P to online beggars: it’s irritating
Singer Peter Okoye of PSquare, aka Mr P, has slammed those who beg for money online and seek giveaways.
He said fraudsters also operate through the mode.
Peter was reacting to a tweep who demanded the sum of N500,000 from him and five other notable Nigerian personalities.
The tweep wrote: “I need #500 before next year” and went on to tag Davido, Naira Marley, Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote, Mr P and Rudeboy adding, “Let GOD use you for me.”
Calling out the tweep in a lengthy post, the “Chop My Money” singer wrote: “Now! Tweets like this are what these fraudsters are after.
“They see how desperate you come online and beg for money or giveaway and they will take advantage of you!
“By claiming it’s me and you will fall for it! Stop the f**king online begging! Irritating!
“Some Nigerians and Giveaway na 5&6. How can somebody tell you that you have won a giveaway and still ask you to pay to receive the money and you pay!…the problem here now is the greedy and selfish victims!
“Like I don’t understand some people! Is like me saying I am doing a giveaway of 100k each but you have to send me 30k first to receive the 100k.
“Please does that make any sense? Greed to the highest level! But they will pay fraudsters and come here to complain!”
The Okoye twin, who also runs a lottery programme known as Zoom, claimed online fraudsters now hide behind the platform to scam people using his name.
He went on: “90% of people getting scammed are from all these online Giveaway beggars!
“The fraudsters are now using GIVEAWAY to scam people with my name simply because they know how desperate people are! So they target them when asking for money or Giveaway!
“Pls let me say it again and again! My Zoom lottery platform is not a Giveaway platform!
“It’s a Registered and licensed Platform approved by NLRC (National Lottery Regulatory Commission.
“@zoomupyourlife is not doing any Giveaway of pay 20k and receive 200k! You have been warned! Period! #awareness.”
