On Tuesday evening, some Muslims in Kano State offered a special prayer against the ongoing unrest in various areas of the nation and begged God to intervene.

After the Maghrib prayer, it was reported that the supplication was held in the Pyramid Radio, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Mosque on Audu Bako Way in the state. Malam Dauda Lokon-Makera, the mosque’s imam, led the prayer.

The congregation reportedly prayed at the prayer meeting for the state’s citizens to continue to live in relative peace.

“It is incumbent upon us to pray for peace and stability to prevail in Kano because this is where we live, work, trade and conduct all other activities for our daily survival,” Lokon-Makera said during the supplication.

The group prayed for a smooth implementation of the state government’s ban on tricycle operations from 10 PM to 6 AM, which would go into force on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

“The ban on the operations of A Daidaita Sahu from 10 PM to 6 AM by the state government is a welcome development as it will go a long way in tackling the pockets of security concerns being witnessed in the night, especially in Kano metropolis.

“The move to address such issues by the government is a right step in the right direction, and should, therefore, be supported by all of us,” the congregation said.

The devout prayed to Allah to stop the widespread inflation and poverty that plagued the people and to give them back their purchasing power.

According to reports, the state government restricted the use of commercial tricycles from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday as part of renewed efforts to protect people’s lives and property in the state.

Recently, the state had become an everyday occurrence for miscreants known as “Yandaba” to steal phones and commit armed robberies.

Numerous people had been killed as a result of these actions, particularly in the Kano metropolis.
