The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has stepped up its campaign on illegal alcohol manufacture, unearthing a covert plant at the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.

In a recent enforcement operation coordinated by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, officials removed unauthorised production setups located in Shop 34, Shop 17/24, and attached 17/2 in Niger 4 Plaza.

Based on actionable intelligence, the enforcement team seized a trove of incriminating evidence, including mini plastic mixing tanks, improvised filters, cartons of empty bottles with intact labels, corks, packaging materials, and a variety of already manufactured and packaged alcoholic beverages.

The operation seized over 3,452 cartons of empty and full bottles worth over ₦250 million.

NAFDAC’s prompt response demonstrates the agency’s consistent commitment to protecting public health and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in the food and beverage industry.

NAFDAC has urged the people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to their nearest NAFDAC office. Individuals can also offer information by emailing the agency or calling one of its specialised hotlines.
