The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has stated that all issues concerning pilgrims’ refunds for the 2025 Hajj have been fully resolved.

This clarification was made in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the commission’s Principal Information Officer, Malam Shafii Mohammed.

Mohammed refuted claims that preparations for the 2026 Hajj were being held up due to outstanding matters from the 2025 Hajj financial operations. He affirmed that all refund-related concerns for the 2025 pilgrimage have been completely addressed and reconciled.

“19 States that requested reconciliation of pilgrims’ Hajj fare refunds have been duly settled.

“Refunds from previous years have also been cleared, except in cases where some states are yet to formally initiate reconciliation with the commission,” Mohammed said.

The NAHCON information officer said that with the matter resolved, the commission was now shifting focus to preparations for the 2026 Hajj.

He emphasised the importance of early payment of Hajj fares, in line with the operational calendar of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

According to him, timely remittance will ensure that Nigeria secures essential services in Makkah, Madinah, and the Mashā’ir.

He said that it would also safeguard Nigeria’s full participation in next year’s pilgrimage and guarantee improved comfort and dignity for pilgrims.

“NAHCON therefore calls on state Muslim pilgrims’ welfare boards, agencies, commissions, and licensed tour operators to remit Hajj fares promptly to avoid last-minute challenges,” he said.
