Nasarawa Assembly passes 445 resolutions, 237 legislation

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, in the 23 years since it was established has passed 237 bills into law and 445 resolutions.

Before the House 2022 Compendium’s official unveiling, which will take place for the first time since 1999, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, chairman of the House Committee on Information, informed newsmen in Lafia on Monday.

Omadefu stated that the state’s citizens would be informed of the House’s operations from its official inauguration on June 6, 1999 during the introduction of its compendium, which will take place on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Ta’al Conference Hotel in Lafia.

He noted that the assembly’s progress to this point had been positive and that other actions taken by the House to help the state administration, such as passing bills and resolutions, were to blame for the changes seen throughout the state.

He said, “The Nasarawa State House of Assembly is ready to launch its 2022 Compendium this coming Wednesday, October 12, 2022, and it is tagged, ‘The Journey So Far, from 1999 to 2022.’

“The Compendium captures historical information, achievement and general activities of the House. The journey of the House has been good and very rewarding as we have passed 237 bills into law and 445 resolutions within the 23 years of the House existence.

“In the first assembly, the House passed 33 bills, second Assembly 20 bills, third Assembly 31 bills, fourth Assembly 45 bills , fifth Assembly 48 bills and the present six Assembly has so far passed 44 bills while 16 are in different stages of passage.

“For resolutions, the first Assembly passed 136, the second Assembly passed 71, the third Assembly passed 81, the fourth Assembly passed 57, the fifth Assembly passed 57 and the present six Assembly has so far passed about 50 resolutions.

“All these bills and resolutions have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state and other Nigerians.”

Hon. Omadefu urged state stakeholders and other citizens to attend the event in order to familiarize themselves with all of the House’s historical events.

“I want to call on the stakeholders of the state and the public to come and witness the launching of the House compendium and to enable them know what the House has done and still doing since its inception,” he added.

The Information Chairman praised the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, for his foresight in coming up with the idea of the Compendium while reassuring the executive and judicial arms of the State Assembly of their continued commitment to ensuring an effective partnership for the state’s overall development.
