Prominent figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) attend the Appeal Court hearing on the Nasarawa State governorship election.

Leading the group are former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; Nasarawa Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, and former Information Minister, Labaran Maku.

Last Wednesday, the appellate court scheduled Thursday, November 23, for the judgment in an appeal filed by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule of the APC, challenging the majority decision of a tribunal that nullified his election in favor of David Ombugadu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The state election petitions tribunal had earlier invalidated Governor Sule’s victory, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to INEC, Sule garnered a total of 347,209 votes, surpassing his closest opponent who secured 283,016 votes.

However, on October 2, the tribunal, in a divided decision, removed the APC’s Sule from office and declared the PDP’s Ombugadu as the winner of the election.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the ruling, Sule, represented by his counsel Wole Olanipekun (SAN), appealed to the higher court, seeking a reversal of the tribunal’s judgment.”
