A 38-year-old resident of Masaka in Karu LGA of Nasarawa, Gabriel Magaji, has committed suicide over alleged infidelity by his wife.

According to Daily Trust, Magaji committed suicide after he found out that his wife slept with his friends for money.

Nansel Ramhan, spokesperson of Nasarawa police command, said Magaji’s corpse was found on Monday in a classroom at Crystal School, Masaka.

“On Monday at about 7am, a report was lodged by a staff member of Crystal School Masaka in our office in the Masaka division that a yet-to-be-identified man was found hanging in one of the classes in Crystal School Masaka,” the police spokesperson said.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, the DPO led his men to the scene and untied the corpse and took it to the General Hospital, Mararaba, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor. So, the corpse was deposited in the morgue.”

Ramhan said the police are still conducting an investigation to uncover the cause of his death.

However, Daily Trust reported that a note was found on the victim at the time of his death by an unnamed individual who claimed to be familiar with the development.

The newspaper said the note mentioned that Magaji committed suicide after he found out that his wife frequently slept with his friends in exchange for money.

“When he confronted his wife, she said she was doing that because he couldn’t afford to bring food to the table,” the source told Daily Trust.

“According to the wife, the friends of his husband often had sex with her and gave her money, of which she uses the money to buy food items that even the late husband and their three kids eat.”
