NASENI, Chinese firms sign $2 Billion MoUs

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has entered into a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with three Chinese collaborators for upcoming projects with a total worth of $2 billion.

Amidst Nigeria’s growing benefits from the ongoing 3rd Belt And Road Initiative (BRI), the country secured additional letters of intent worth $4 billion for upcoming projects and investments.

Additionally, the Federal Ministry of Works inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd for the construction of the Lekki Blue Seaport within the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, standing in for President Bola Tinubu at the Belt and Road Initiative Forum in Beijing, China, was in attendance at the event. Notable government figures, including the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Power, and Works, and other high-ranking officials, were also present.

Shettima expressed his appreciation for all stakeholders and their Chinese counterparts, highlighting that Nigeria is currently exceptionally well-prepared for businesses to flourish.

He stated that due to the government’s diligent work in eliminating obstacles, the path is now open for enhanced economic and trade partnerships, ensuring a fair environment for all investors.

Khalil Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NASENI, expressed that the realization of these agreements underscores NASENI’s dedication to supporting the foreign direct investment (FDI) initiatives of the Tinubu administration.
