The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported that its website has been compromised by hackers.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday night, the NBS confirmed the breach and assured the public that efforts are underway to restore the platform.
The website is a vital resource for publishing key statistics across various sectors in the country.
The post read, “This is to inform the public that the NBS Website has been hacked and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored. Thank you.”

Thank you.— NBS Nigeria (@NBS_Nigeria) December 18, 2024
It seems the attempts to recover the site has not yet succeeded, as attempts to log into the Agency’s website www.nigerianstat.gov.ng on Thursday morning was unsuccessful. It said “the site can’t be reached.”
