The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday revoked the Air Operator Certificates of Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited and Omni-Blu Aviation.
In a post on its X handle, the NCAA stated that the revocation is part of efforts to “further sanitise the aviation industry”.
Airlines Found in Violation of Regulations
“The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation violated Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs, concerning the falsification, reproduction, or alteration of applications, licences, certificates, logbooks, reports, or records,” the agency said.
“Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs prescribes the revocation of the certificate as the sanction for such violations.”
As a result, their Air Operator Certificates (OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001) have been revoked.
Recent Incidents Involving Eastwind and Max Air
In October, a helicopter operated by Eastwind Aviation crash-landed in the Atlantic Ocean, carrying eight people, with only one survivor.
In another incident, Max Air suspended operations for three months after one of its aircraft crash-landed at Mallam Aminu International Airport in Kano.
The aircraft had lost its landing gear tyre during landing, but Max Air confirmed that the incident was managed properly, with no injuries to crew or passengers.
The NCAA stated that Max Air’s suspension would allow for an appraisal of its internal operations.
