The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reports the arrest of 103 suspects and the confiscation of 1,458 kg of illicit drugs in the state.
The State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr. Samaila Danmallam, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that the apprehension and confiscation of illicit drugs occurred in December.
Danmallam clarified that the 103 individuals taken into custody included drug traffickers, dealers, and users.
He detailed that the seized illicit substances comprised cocaine, heroin, cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances, totaling 1,458.709 kilograms.
Additionally, 26 illicit drug joints were dismantled during the operations, resulting in six convictions, with 24 suspects arraigned within the month.
Danmallam highlighted that these arrests were part of the command’s ongoing initiatives to combat the drug menace in the state, emphasizing their commitment to drug demand reduction activities.
“We carried out numerous sensitisation programmes across the state to enlighten the citizenry on the ills associated with drug use and its illicit trafficking.
The commander said the fight against illicit drugs remained a collective responsibility and appealed for timely and useful information for prompt action.
