NDLEA seize UK, Europe-Bound cocaine in female sanitary pads

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted consignments of cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids concealed in ladies’ sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers destined for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Media and Advocacy, officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation recovered 30 parcels of cocaine, weighing 1.1 kilograms, hidden in hair cream containers at a logistics company during the examination of cargoes bound for Ireland on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

The statement also noted that on Friday, September 6, at the same company, another 24 parcels of cocaine, weighing 862 grams and similarly concealed in hair cream containers, were intercepted en route to the UK. Additionally, 525 pills of tramadol (225mg) and ecstasy (MDMA) hidden in ladies’ sanitary pads and headed for Cyprus were seized at another courier firm in Lagos on Tuesday, September 3.

The NDLEA further reported the interception of a shipment containing 200 ampoules of promethazine injection and pentazocine injection, hidden in food items and herbs, which was destined for London, UK, and seized by operatives on Wednesday, September 4.
