Numerous Nigerians have expressed their dissatisfaction in the comment section of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s post, criticizing his delayed response to the recent killings in Benue. The President condemned the attack and extended condolences to the victims a day after the tragic incident.

The attack, carried out by suspected herdsmen in an overnight raid on Yelewata village in Benue on Friday, resulted in the deaths of about 100 people, with many others injured and scores still missing.

Prominent figures such as Pope Leo XIV, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar promptly condemned the attack, issuing statements in its aftermath.

President Tinubu, in a statement released on Sunday night, denounced the killings and directed security operatives to apprehend those responsible.

“I have been briefed on the senseless bloodletting in Benue State. Enough is enough! I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them,” the statement read in part.

His statement has stirred reactions from Nigerians on X who stormed his comment section with criticism.
